About
Our Story

M. Yahya “Medy” Sanadidi, PhD, retired professor of computer science at UCLA, founded Bella Pita in 2006 in partnership with his son, Ezedin Sanadidi. Originally from Egypt, they were thrilled to find growing demand for Mediterranean cuisine everywhere they traveled. After years of perfecting Bella Pita menu items at home (2003 to 2006), Bella Pita opened its doors for customers at 960 Gayley Ave in March of 2007.
Bella Pita focus is on fresh, healthful, and customizable food at the fair price. Sandwiches, salads, and rice plates include: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and meat choices. Our unique and patented Wowshi™ is a pita sandwich that is BAKED TO ORDER in less than 4 minutes. Falafel-filling a culinary dream
January 4, 2011
Although UCLA Professor Medy Sanadidi dedicated his education to pursuing computer science, he always held onto another dream to open his own restaurant.
“Me and my family are foodies. My father, who was a lawyer in Alexandria, Egypt, as well as his sister, my aunt, were noted home cooks. Myself, my son and daughter have always enjoyed dabbling in food and cooking,” Sanadidi said. “It was probably always in the back of my mind.”
